Integrating CareHQ
After activating your license, connect the plugin to your CareHQ account. We recommend using your developer/test account first.
Create an API Key in CareHQ
- Log in to your CareHQ admin dashboard and go to the Accounts page.
- Open the API keys tab and copy your Account ID.
- Click Add to create a new API key. Give it a name (e.g. "WordPress Plugin").
-
Assign these permissions:
- Actions — Create & Read
- Care enquiries — Create & Read
- Groups — Read
- Locations — Read
- Click Save. CareHQ will display the API Key and API Secret — copy both.
Connect the Plugin
- In WordPress, go to the CareHQ tab in the plugin admin.
- Enter your Account ID, API Key, and API Secret.
- Set the API URL to Developer for testing or Production for live use.
- Click Save.
- Use the Refresh Locations and Refresh Sales Channels buttons to pull data from CareHQ.
- Select your preferred Sales Channel from the dropdown.
Tip: Always test in the Developer environment first. Switch to Production once everything is working.
Troubleshooting
- Double-check your Account ID, API Key, and Secret.
- Make sure the API key has the permissions listed above.
- Try granting all permissions temporarily to rule out permission issues.
- Refresh locations and sales channels again after saving.
- Check that your CareHQ account is active.
